I haven’t talked about this in a while, but those of you who have been following me for a long time know I’m a big fan of journaling.
Journaling is the introspection you need to dive deep inside yourself and find out what you want, what you are.
Many people don’t even know what they want deep down inside…
Because they’ve never taken the time to ask themselves.
Prisoners of this life that snatches away our moments, these few hours to meet ourselves seem like a luxury.
To all those who feel stuck in their lives, explore this path.
You can’t go where you want to if you don’t know yourself.
Your aspirations, your dreams, the things you want to achieve on this earth.
This Sunday, it’s not a specific journaling prompt I wanted to talk about, but rather a method.
For the past two years, I’ve been trying to write daily in my journal.
To reflect on my day
Process my emotions
To progress in my life
The problem is, like everyone of us, I’m running out of time.
And after missing one day, then another, then another…
Pages of my remain blan.
Sometimes, it’s a week before I open my diary to write down some thoughts.
To remedy the problem, I’ve found a new method that I love.
I no longer try to journal daily, but weekly.
And for daily thoughts, I have another journal, less important, which is there if needed.
The weekly journal is my holy grail.
Every Sunday, before I write this e-mail I’m writing to you.
I write down all the important metrics I need to track.
Then I review the week’s goals.
Were they achieved?
This week, I can tell you that :
- my weight hasn’t budged
- I trained 3 times (the target is 4 mini workouts a week, the last one this afternoon)
- My nutrition was good
- I gained 246 medium followers
- Around 50 newsletter subscription
- I missed my publication schedule for one of my pro pages, I’m 2 posts short of the deadline
- I didn’t do the advertising I was supposed to do (even though it’s vital)
- I followed my publication schedule for writing
- I didn’t do yet my weekly big house cleaning (not cool, gonna do it this afternoon)
- Track the money coming in
Bonus, it wasn’t planned.
I’ve written the first chapter of a novel that’s been in my head for a long time. The first chapter looks good. I’ll share it with you next week on my writing newsletter.
It’s a novel about a guy who will dive into underground circles of no rules fights.
Lots of sweat and blood. If you love martial arts, boxing and fighting.
It’s coming.
I’ve achieved almost all my goals and I’m going to write about the week’s goals afterwards.
This method is less restrictive than the daily method.
You only block off time once and there’s less of a mental burden.
What’s more, week after week, you can see a progression that isn’t visible when you track daily.
You release extra dopamine when you see your results, and you’re motivated to want to do better the following week.
I feel much more productive following my goals for the week rather than my goals for the day.
Less daily pressure.
Less fatigue.
The workload is spread out over the week rather than over successive days.
Before, when I missed a day, I felt bad.
It's taken a lot of mental pressure off me not to keep track of everything on a daily basis, but on a weekly basis.
If you want to use this method :
- 1 weekly diary
- 1 daily diary
Weekly diary :
Front page.
Objectives for the year.
Break this down into things to do each quarter, then month, then week.
You have your weekly schedule.
Each week, set aside a time to reflect.
Find the reasons that prevent you from achieving what you want to achieve.
Find out how to improve your process.
And if you want to journal in between.
Dump your thoughts into the daily journal.
What I like about this method is its clarity.
I no longer have my thoughts mixed up with my goals.
I have a much clearer vision of progress and what I need to do to stay on track.
The left-hand page of the newspaper devoted to the week’s program.
The right-hand page of the newspaper devoted to the result.
We have the progression in front of us.
It’s as if our vision seems to come alive, capable of movement, taking on physical form.
That’s it for today.
I wish you a fantastic Sunday.
It’s a wonderful day to get on the road to your dreams.
Much love.
See you on Wednesday
Aye, I'm catching up on your writing and it's been very inspirational. Thank you. Grats on chapter 1 of the novel-story as well, I imagine it's quite fun to unleash your inner pit brawler in words and will be a joy to read for many in your audience.
