How to Be an Irrationnal Optimist
Life is Good in Delulu Realm
Everything was perfect.
Everything is perfect.
Everything will be perfect.
How can I think such a thing when my whole life has been a war zone? When I'm missing pieces of my soul that may still be bleeding. Not even sutured or healed.
Because I connect the dots. And the major dot I connect is: I love who I've become. So, pain, joy, failure, victories... everything was perfect to get to this point in my life.
I wouldn't want to be anyone else.
I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
I'm in exactly the right place at exactly the right time.
This version of me can choose where to go.
If these things... that I perceived as terrible in the past, turned out to be blessings. It just means we don't know what's good for us. Or bad for us.
So... apart from letting go in the face of life's events?
What else can we do?
Nothing.
Or maybe everything.
I can choose to get up and keep writing.
It will continue to open doors for me.
I can choose to get up and do my workout.
It will continue to make me healthier.
I can choose to get up and do this thing that's important to me.
Because it's one of my dreams.
And I don't want it to be just a dream.
So I turn it into a plan.
I'm like water.
A liquid identity.
Every day, I try to adapt as best I can to the situation the world offers me.
The lessons are there.
The pain was process.
Wisdom has been listened to.
Strength has been gathered.
The will to move forward is real.
Time to integrate.
To get moving.
#1 Priority: Find your life mission
The hard part. Because a lot of negative philosophies have already lost a lot of people. Nihilistic philosophies that tell you that life has no meaning, everything is chaos, that your existence is just an anecdote in the universe. Become the joker and wander this senseless land.
They show you pictures of the sun and tell you how insignificant you are in the universe.
“You're this tiny, insignificant dot.
Look how worthless you are.”
Let me tell you something.
The sun has no choice but to make its move.
It can't escape its fate.
You have a choice about where you go.
You can create your own path.
The sun looks at you and may be dying to be you.
If you believe in the nihilist theory, there's nothing I can do for you. The access to my philosophy is to find your place in the universe. To feel aligned between the actions you take and the body and mind you've been given. To find your way in life so that you feel good and no longer betray yourself with a life you don't like.
My life mission is multiple. One part is writing words. I write. Because that's what I am. It's what I need to do to feel good.
Once you have your life mission, you have an anchor when things go wrong. You can always come back to this to get back on track. An atom in its element.
Trust your gut feelings
Your instinct is there. It always has been. It lives with you. It knows things and understands things you don't know. Direct connection to the divine or connection to something else, I don't know. All I know is that your instinct wants what's best for you.
Sometimes your instinct is wrong. It happened to me. But it's an infinitesimal ratio to the number of times my instinct has been right.
I like Spiderman's spidersense. He senses danger and instinctively avoids it. He doesn't say to himself “Maybe my spidersense is wrong” and stays in the path of danger.
We sense danger and what do we do?
We ignore it.
Then we do Pikachu faces when we get burned.
Intensity
The sun can’t slow down.
But you can choose to speed up your pace.
I wrote a note yesterday.
Give it your all.
The universe will reward you for everything.
If there's one quality that's underestimated in this world and that opens doors for you, it's intensity AND speed.
People will call you crazy
I've lost count of the number of times this has happened. Story of my life. And yet... almost every time: I was right.
As soon as you step outside the norm, people gonna attack you. You'll be branded an alien and it's a lonely ride. But playing by the rules of the social game. It means playing by the rules that society has set. And do you see happy people around you? Do you see many?
Do you think you can be happy by following the rules that everyone else follows?
These rules were created to keep a semblance of order in this great human chaos. But these rules don't serve you. Because society crushes humans who bend to them.
Your life.
Your rules.
Let people call you crazy if they want.
And yet..
No dream is too big.
If people don't call you crazy: warning… you are probably not doint it right.
Being Selfish is Altruism
Being egotistical is the best way to go after the things you want in life. Once you've got them... to share them with the people you love.
The other way around, it doesn't work.
You can't give what you don't have. It's self harm.
Stop being afraid of being egoistic.
Whether it's your personality or your life choices.
The universe has chosen you to live. Gave you a brain and a body that you can move as you please. It told you: “Have fun, discover, watch, explore, love...”
You are free to experience this reality as you wish.
Allow yourself to do so.
Wanting things is not a sin.
I'm sure the universe is happy when we set out to conquer the things that set our hearts on fire.
Focus on yourself.
I don't know what's been going on in politics, or in my country for years. I don't have a TV. I don't read newspapers. I don’t know. I don’t care too. Because I have no power on these things.
The only thing that interests me is the people I really love. My duty to make their lives the best experience I can. My duty to give them everything I can. This is within my power. The rest is of little interest.
Believe in yourself
If you don’t believe in yourself.
No one will.
Common ground among reality breakers. I'm observing all these ultra-successful friends I have. I'm not jealous. But late. We started out together and some of them are already light years ahead of me.
The difference?
Their irrational self-confidence in themselves and in the future. Their blind trust in the universe that conspires for them. The blind faith in the universe. And maybe I don't do that enough. Finally, it's time to integrate this crucial lesson.
Give it your all to avoid regrets
I didn't wait 35+ years to develop this idea. I've had it in me since I was young. You have the right to lose. But you don't have the right not to give it your all.
Because then… you're bound to regret it.
Give it all, without counting.
Relationships, work, sport...
Give it all.
Your heart is happy.
You've done everything you can.
If you lose, there's no regret because you gave it all.
Put ALL your energy into the things you love and are passionate about. Burn if you must. If you lose, it won't be your fault. No regrets. Some things just aren't meant for you. C’est la vie.
This mentality has served me well many times in sport. Just with that mentality, you win a lot of battles.
Be hard on yourself
I can do more. I can do a lot more. I know I can. I can feel it. So why not do more?
I had this friend who said, “Tolerant of others, ruthless with yourself.”
Of course you have to be ruthless with yourself. Push yourself, beyond your limits. Out of your comfort zone to see what you're capable of.
Being hard on yourself means loving yourself.
Means you really believe you can do better.
Become better.
Respect yourself
Define your life principles. Stick to it. If you don't respect your own rules? No one will. I get up in the morning, I have to write: I write. Sacred session of my day that nothing else can disturb.
I try to put this level of discipline into other things in my life. I'm not telling you I'm a master. But my ideal is there and I try to wait for it.
Respect your principles.
Follow your dreams.
People will rise to your standards.
Don’t manifest, make it happen
Of course you can pray the universe. But there's a saying that goes: Help yourself and God /Universe will help you. Our duty is to give our best. The universe sees that. Bless the project or not. But our duty is to give it our all.
You can wish, you can hope AND you can also use this fantastic body and brain that the universe has given you. It's all about putting the odds in your favor.
Protect your energy
If you're vibrating with optimism. You'll enter a closed circle of people. Look around you. Move peoplve have a closed face. Dead dreams. Live season 14 of Walking Dead.
You're becoming a rarity. And... you'll be subject to attack. Every day, for some reason, I get attacked on notes. When all I'm trying to do is share good vibes.
I made the decision not to respond and to block instantly. If you're vibrating at the right frequency. You'll improve the lives of those around you. Have the same standard. Either other people improve your life. Or they can’t be part of it.
Optimism loves silence
“Live happy, live hidden”. Happiness is a treasure that must be hidden from everyone. Human nature to be envious.
I've written several times about the need to act like a submariner. Stay well underwater, you come out only to dazzle the world, and then you dive right back in. Out of reach of other people's control and ideas.
The world will criticize what you do. They might as well not know what you're doing. And that you're well beyond the reach of their words. Which could hurt your heart and discourage you.
They can't understand you.
Don't try to explain it to them.
If your heart burns for something, you have no further justification for that fire to have. Not for anyone else.
Just appreciate the gift the universe gives you of feeling life beating inside you.
You need good friends
I'm lucky. All my friends are over achievers. Maybe it's not luck because I've been able to attract the right friends. Or maybe it is. But to see them succeed and lead a life they choose. That's a joy. It proves to me that it happens. That I can do the same.
Every day, they advise me, they push me, they support me. You can find their philosophy every Sunday in my words. They're there for me. They're there for you.
We're the average of the people around us. If you're friends with losers. Statistically, it's not looking good.
Two people.
A best friend tells one to waste his weekend with booze.
Another tells another to spend Saturday strategizing about the future.
Repeat the same pattern 10-100-1000 times over the years.
There's bound to be a violent dichotomy between the lives that will result.
Simplicity is the key
Why complicate things?
I used to think you had to make a ton of compromises on a lot of things to find your way. Fighting for ideas. Convincing people of our point of view. Doing things you really don't want to do…
Pointless.
Useless.
I was sooooooooooooooooo wrong.
Simplicity is the most beautiful philosophy life has to offer.
Find your life path.
Find out how you want to live this life path.
Anything that aligns with that is welcome.
Anything that doesn't doesn't belong here.
No need to read 100 books, stoicism, epicureanism or any ism.
4 lines, choose and dismiss.
You are building your reality.
Live by this rule and you will attract into your universe only those things you want to live. But you'll have to be brave enough to say no when it comes to protecting your values. If you have no standards with your own standards. Don't be surprised to live lives you don't want to live.
Trust
We do the best we can with the cards we've been given.
You can have a terrible hand. But you can still play it much better than a pair of kings.
Try to conquer every day.
Everything else is out of our control.
Smile.
Trust.
Time to win.
Everything was perfect.
Everything is perfect.
Everything will be perfect.
Like always, if you like my work.
Put a heart. It helps a lot.
Share my words with people you love.
It’s gold.
See you next Sunday for new adventures.

I am just loving these thoughts, Viam. Amazing lines. In a place where I feel hopeless around sometimes, I keep reading your lines, it's giving me a different perspective to think about. They are mindful and very thoughtful. 🫶🏻
More power to you.
