Focus
Doing one thing well is better than doing ten.
A few days ago, I wrote a little post on my telegram channel. And in the last few days, I've been thinking a lot about this one.
I've been trying to improve myself for years. Every day, being a little bit better than the day before. And I've often tracked many goals at once.
At the beginning of the year, I was tracking no less than 10 big goals.
But recently, I had a realization: doing too many things is the best way to accomplish nothing.
I'm not going to say that I haven't accomplished anything in the last three years, but I've realized that a lot of things haven't gone my way.
While others have had exponential results, I've been stuck with glass ceilings that I couldn't get past.
Until a few weeks ago, I didn't understand why.
It is now very clear: I was doing too many things at once. I was following too many roads and instead of moving quickly on one, I was only taking a few steps each day on several.
For the past few weeks, I have been working on only two main goals and as if by magic, everything seems to be moving again... and the results are much faster.
The key to your growth is your focus.
If your focus is scattered across too many goals, you won't make progress.
If your focus is directed toward just one or two tasks, you will make tremendous progress within a few months.
The steps are simple:
- identify the essentials
- identify the goals that are secondary
Work only on the essential until it is achieved.
This is how you will be able to level up in a gigantic way in a few months.
Anything that doesn't serve your main goals should be eliminated.
Your attention is gold. All companies are fighting for it. And in addition to the companies that try to take it, your different goals take it too.
The equation is very simple.
There are 16 hours in a day (if you sleep 8 hours).
How many hours a day are you willing to focus on that thing that will really make you level up?
The more you give, the more you get.
Imagine you have 5 goals and you work on those 5 goals: 2 hours.
Imagine you have 1 goal and you work on it 10 hours.
โ> At the end of a week, you will have worked 14 hours on 5 different things.
โ> At the end of one week, you will have worked 70 hours on one thing.
What you achieve in one week, you would need 5 weeks.
And what you achieve in 5 weeks of intense focus (5 x 70 hours = 350 hours)
You would need 175 days.
Adding the fact that when our attention is focused, we become more efficient, the progress will be exponential.
The math never lie.
If you want to achieve quick.
Do more of less things.
All this long mail to tell you that if you feel like you are not progressing, it is possible that it is because you are doing too many things at the same time.
Eliminate.
Focus.
Do.
And when you hit your target, move on to another goal.
Be very egotistical for a few years to achieve your goals so you can be altruistic for a lifetime.
Have a great Sunday.
